Mozart for Children has introduced hundreds of young children to the wonderful world of classical music. Debbie Surowicz, the director and founder, is a classically trained musician with extensive educational experience and has been running this program for over twenty years. Articles about the MFC program have appeared in the New York Times, Parent Guide, Family Magazine, The Berkshire Eagle and the Berkshire Record.  WNBC, WCBS and German television have featured "Mozart for Children" on their newscasts. Mozart for Children has been recognized as an innovative leader in the field of classical music education for young children.
Mozart for Children begins with the premise that all children love music. Works by Mozart and other great composers, carefully selected for their appeal to children, are used as the basis for story‑telling, games, movement and song. Extensive use is made of hand puppets and easy‑to‑play small instruments and other musical props.

Over the course of the program, children become very familiar with basic musical ideas such as pitch and rhythm, as well as more sophisticated concepts such as solfege, instrumental timbre, solo and ensemble. Instruments such as the slide whistle and small percussion give children hands‑on experience as listeners and music makers. Music becomes a vehicle to develop expressivity, both physical and emotional. Recent studies have shown how classical music has helped shape and improve the minds of young children.

Mozart for Children is a quality program with a solid musical foundation - featured in the New York Times and New York Family Guide

A Mozart for Children weekly playgroup is a cost-effective way to introduce your child to the enriching world of classical music in the setting of your choice, amongst children, parents and caregivers your child trusts. Invite your friends, neighbors and school buddies -- no need to go anywhere but your own living room or building'scommunity room.
